‘Coup’ attempt is denounced
ARMENIA’S prime minister yesterday hit out at what he called an attempted coup, as the military demanded he step down after months of protests sparked by the nation’s defeat in the long-running Nagorno-Karabakh conflict with Azerbaijan.
The military’s general staff issued a statement calling for the resignation of Nikol Pashinyan, who described the statement as a “military coup attempt”. He urged the military to only listen to his orders and also called on his supporters to go on to the streets.
