THREE East Devon parishes are still experiencing a large number of coronavirus cases due to care home outbreaks.

Latest government data shows Sidbury, Offwell and Beer remains the area within the county which has the highest number of coronavirus cases, thanks to a major Covid-19 outbreak at a care home in Sidmouth.

Devon and Cornwall Police are leading the investigation into Holmesley

Care Home in Fortescue Road, Sidmouth, along with other agencies.

Although it remains the area with the most cases, it has dramatically fallen from 46 cases as of Friday to 11 on Monday.

Keyham in Plymouth has 12 coronavirus cases, which is the highest number of cases in Devon according to the government data.

Other areas which contain the highest number of cases are SidThe mouth and Sidford (9), St James’s Park and Hoopern (8) and Wellswood (9).

In addition to the care home outbreak, in a statement on Facebook a spokesperson for Sidmouth College said: “Sidmouth College has confirmed a student has tested positive for Covid-19 during the lateral flow testing on site today, the asymptomatic Year 7 student received a positive test result on 15th March.”

A HOTEL chef has been found guilty of a series of sex attacks in which he spiked the drinks of women before raping them.

Tom Wade-Allison, 25, stupefied some of his victims by mixing them drinks before assaulting the dazed women.

He was found guilty at Exeter Crown Court of 14 offences against five young woman aged between 17 and 20.

Victims recalled feeling they had lost control of their bodies during the assaults.

They would drift in and out of consciousness, waking to the sight of Wade-Allison having sex with them, unable to fight him off. Some recalled telling him to stop, but he ignored the pleas.

Judge Timothy Rose told WadeAllison he faced an inevitable prison sentence.

The assaults came to light after one of the victims told police he had raped her while she was unable to consent.

Her memory of the incident was vague because Wade-Allison had spiked her drink, she thought. Her report caused others victims to come forward and reveal similar experiences.

The jury heard that the crimes had features in common, such as the victims having had a lot to drink and it being clear they did not consent, though not all of the victims were drugged.

The offences took place in Somerset and in Honiton, in Devon.

Wade-Allison denied eight charges of rape, four sexual assaults, and one attempted rape. He denied having sex with the women without their consent.

He also denied ever spiking their drinks with drugs to incapacitate them, but the jury found him guilty on all charges.

Wade-Allison, of Martock, near Yeovil in Somerset, will be sentenced on April 15.
