No rush for Grant to be back

-

PLYMOUTH Argyle are set to be without the versatile Conor Grant for a second successive game when they are away to Burton Albion this Saturday.

The 25-year-old picked up a groin injury during the 3-0 Easter Monday defeat away to Shrewsbury Town.

While not thought to be a serious issue, Argyle will not be taking any risks with Grant this close to the end of the season.

So he was sidelined when the Pilgrims lost 3-0 to League One leaders Hull City at Home Park on Saturday.

Argyle manager Ryan Lowe said: “He has got a groin injury. He carried on with it on Monday and he has been struggling with it.

“He will probably be out a week maybe, 10 days. We will have a look at it.

“We are not going to risk Conor, especially now where we are (in the league table).”

Grant had been playing in a deep midfield role in a 4-2-2-2 formation in recent matches.

However, Lowe changed tactics to a 3-1-4-2 for the visit of tabletopping Hull.

Argye remained in 16th position in the table, two places above Burton, who host them this weekend.

Grant has made a total of 38 starts and seven substitute appearances this season and scored four goals. Argyle’s away League One game against Burton Albion on Saturday will now kick-off at 12.30pm.

The fixture at the Pirelli Stadium had originally been scheduled to start at 3pm but has been brought by two-and-a-half hours.

That will avoid coinciding with the funeral of HRH Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, which will take place in St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle the same afternoon.

All EFL games are being moved from their 3pm kick-off times as a mark of respect of Prince Philip, who passed away at the age of 99 on Friday.
