Housebuyer­s make Totnes top market town search

TOTNES has been revealed as the most-searched UK market town in a list compiled by property agents Rightmove.

The list revealed that Totnes scooped top spot with an average house price of £318,924. Its twobedroom flats are priced from around £220,000, while four-bedroom family homes sell for about £400,000.

Ben Piper, Mayor of Totnes, said: “We’re very blessed to be nestled in between the hill and shore – the location is a fantastic one. We have a rich and diverse culture which has helped us through the pandemic.

“We have developed a really interestin­g and diverse high street which has given it resilience and we’re incredibly proud that ten new businesses opened in the high street.

“We have an amazing heritage from the Anglo-Saxon period, it’s the history and culture coming together that makes Totnes an incredibly beautiful environmen­t.”

Kingsbridg­e made ninth place in the list of top ten home-hunters most in-demand locations – coming in with an average house price of £373,328.

In second place is Ashbourne in Derbyshire, while in third is Keswick, Cumbria.
