Vegan groups should stop their preaching

-

WITH reference to the letter from Michael Carter recently, regarding the article by columnist Anton Coaker in which he criticised the call to eat less meat and dairy products.

Personally, I enjoy Anton’s weekly articles and even though he can sometimes come across as a bit of a grumpy old curmudgeon, he speaks on behalf of sheep and cattle farmers throughout the country who see their livelihoods threatened by the mainly town and city-based vegan brigade, along with the loony left of XR and other odd bods, who apparently want to put an end to animal farming altogether.

As Mr Carter took the trouble to look up about methane production on Google, perhaps he may have come across this piece of information regarding the greenhouse effect: “Vegans are said to emit 60% more methane gas than meat eaters because of their diet and are therefore among the main causes of the greenhouse effect, according to an article published on social media... Assessment: Human digestion is not one of the main causes of the greenhouse effect – whether you eat vegan or not.”

It’s a case of ‘each to their own,’ Mr Carter.

If some want to eat as vegans or vegetarians, that’s fine with me, if others want to have a cereal with milk, or bacon and egg for breakfast, a sausage roll or ham sandwich for lunch and roast beef for dinner, then that’s their choice too, but what people who eat meat and dairy products do not like, or want, is to be preached at by vegan groups who fondly believe they are saving the world by continually pestering those who do not share their views.
