Alan (Steve Coogan) is back on the This Time sofa with co-host Jennie (Susannah Fielding).

The mood shifts as Alan explains he was due to do a corruption piece about Crufts, which was cancelled after a “Schnauzer went berserk”, leaving Clare Balding shaken.

Not to waste the film crew, Alan, below, has tried something a little different.

Back in the studio he deals with a live chat with a Guardian columnist, played by Matt Smith, who is complaining about Alan’s “dereliction of basic journalistic standards”.

Elsewhere, drinks expert Rosie Whitter (Rosie Cavaliero) is in to talk about champagne cocktails.
