Josephs walks out on the Patriots

-

PLYMOUTH City Patriots have been dealt a huge blow in their quest for a place in the end of season play-offs with Kofi Josephs announcing his sudden departure from the club, writes Stuart James.

The 30-year-old has wowed fans at the Pavilions ever since his arrival in November, along with Rowell Graham-Bell, although he has missed the last few games through injury.

Sadly for fans of the Patriots, the popular guard has emailed the club informing them of his resignation from the team.

Birmingham-born Josephs, who resides in Manchester, will now return home immediately for personal reasons with the club saying they respect his wishes and thank him for playing an important role in the Patriots’ first ever season in the BBL.

Owner Carl Heslop said: “Kofi came into the club at a difficult period and immediately showed his talent in this league. We wish him all the best and would thank him for his contribution to the Patriots”

Any fan of the BBL will be more than familiar with Josephs, as his brand of excitement both on and off the court are well renowned.

He generated a great deal of interest when he first came to the BBL in 2017, averaging over 13 points per game for the Glasgow Rocks, but it was his outside shooting that really impressed the fans, with his uncanny ability to score from way beyond the threepoint line.

Josephs took his skills to Europe for a few seasons, before returning to the BBL and the Worcester Wolves in 2019, where he was an important part of the Wolves BBL Cup winning team.

He then took a year out from basketball before returning to the sport and the Patriots, where he has averaged 20.8 points and 31.8 minutes per game.
