‘Mobile home’ put up for sale

ATINY house on wheels which has been kitted out by its owner to be the perfect home for one to two people has gone on the market for £29,000.

At a time when the property market has reached crisis point in Cornwall, with house prices rising massively and available rental stock being at an all-time low, this compact property could be the perfect home for someone desperate to live in the Duchy.

The house, which is built on a trailer, is currently parked on Hillhead Road, Falmouth, but can be moved and has been posted for sale on Facebook Marketplace.

Owner Meg Lovell wrote: “Would be a perfect little home with a mezzanine bedroom for one to two people. Or a potential spare room for friends and family to visit.”

She added: “Here, I am putting up for sale my tiny house. 5mx2.5mx3m. (3.8m from the ground externally). I built this to live in and have decided to see whether or not it will sell, so no time-wasters and I will only consider sensible offers. Built on a Brian James Trailer with a weight limit of 3.5t. Weighs just over 3t. Towable by some Land Rovers or similar with capacity to tow this weight. Or can be transported on a lowloader, to be organised by buyer.”

“At present, system runs off mains electric with 12v elements so can be converted to solar if desired. Could do this for you possibly. Water is set up to run and can be connected to from mains or I can include a pump if you decide to use a tank. Burner can be included or deduct £500 if you wish to get your own fitted.”

It is not the only small property currently available in Cornwall at the moment. A two-bedroom beach chalet close to Gwithian sand dunes will be auctioned online later this month with a guide price of slightly more than the tiny Falmouth house – £325,000 to £350,000 is the expected offer proposed by agents Auction House.

The description reads: “This is a unique opportunity to redevelop and modernise (subject to the necessary consents) a two-bedroom detached chalet situated within the highly desirable area of Gwithian.”
