We can’t keep pouring money into Ukraine

FOR once, I agree with C N Westerman, regarding his comments on the Ukraine situation.

Like Mr Westerman, I’ve no time for Putin, but let’s get things into proportion – while we in the West go along with the US and pour money and weaponry into the conflict, it will only make things worse.

A recent poll asking if we should still be supporting the war dropped from 78% support to just under 40%.

Our biased media (apart from GB News) don’t report the street demonstrations against the war in European capitals.

One has to ask, who’s winning this war? Certainly not us in the West, with fuel and food costs going through the roof. Sanctions haven’t hurt Russia one iota. Especially when major economies like China and India buy up their surplus oil and gas.

Ukraine and Russia need their heads banging together to get around a table for peace talks.

Turkey, please be our saviour, you negotiated the grain and food exports with Ukraine and Russia – now use your influence to get peace talks going.

Ukraine should understand the West can’t keep pouring money and weapons into their coffers when our people at home are literally freezing and food prices rocketing.

Let’s get our priorities right.
