A CRASH in Devon’s South Hams has left a baby in hospital with a serious head injury. Two other people – an adult and another child, aged four – were also injured in the two-vehicle collision which closed roads in the area overnight on Tuesday.

The four-year-old and a man were taken to Plymouth’s Derriford Hospital by Devon Air Ambulance following the crash, while a 10-week-old baby was transferred to Bristol Royal Hospital for Children with a serious head injury.

Devon and Cornwall Police said they were called to Sherford Cross at approximately 5.10pm on Tuesday following reports of the crash, involving a black VW Touareg and a blue VW Touran.

Roads leading to Sherford Cross, near Kingsbridge, were closed following the crash. Devon County Council stated that the closures were lifted after police conducted a forensic investigation of the collision site.

A police spokesperson said: “A full investigation of the scene took place and officers are working to establish the cause of this collision. Devon and Cornwall Police are now asking for any witnesses of the crash to get in contact, as they may be able to assist in their investigation.”
