Devon venues earn coveted accolades
FOUR Devon hotels have been named as the best in the business in the latest Condé Nast Johansens Awards for Excellence.
The awards ceremony saw establishments honoured in a number of categories, coinciding with the celebration of 40 years of Condé Nast Johansens. The awards were created to acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence across the brand’s recommended properties and are a trusted mark of quality recognised by consumers and travel professionals alike.
Best dining experience went to Lympstone Manor, near Exmouth, Michelin-starred Michael Caines’ country hotel beside the Exe Estuary. It was praised for its “beautifully designed dining rooms that host chef Michael Caines’ world-class modern British cuisine”.
The Cary Arms and Spa in Torquay picked up the award for best waterside hotel (riverside, lakeside, seaside), which offers “seaside adventure for everyone on the South Devon coast”. It was praised for its “idyllic setting nestled at the bottom of the cliff, just above the beach”.
Deer Park Country House near Honiton – a “charming and exclusive wedding and events venue where anything goes” – was named best for weddings, parties and celebrations. The awards team loved “the owner’s vintage car collection and the luxurious, romantic tree-house accommodation”.
The Readers’ Award went to Saunton Sands Hotel and Source Spa & Wellness, described as “holidaying by the sea from art-deco surrounds on the North Devon coast”. It was admired for its “amazing location overlooking the long sandy beach of Saunton Sands”.
