CONOR Grant is fully focused on returning stronger after the Plymouth Argyle wing-back had surgery on a torn thigh muscle.

The 27-year-old suffered the injury during the first half of the FA Cup tie away to Grimsby Town on November 5 when he attempted a shot.

Former Everton youngster Grant is set to be ruled out for between three to four months so, without any complications, should be back playing for the end of season run-in.

He has now had two operations in 2022, following groin surgery at the end of last season, and only returned to action from that in late September, since when he has made three starts and six substitute appearances.

Grant has posted the following message on Instagram: “Gutted to have picked up the injury last week, tough one to take but unfortunately these things happen in football and all part of the game! Fully focused on returning stronger.”

A number and past and present team-mates of his posted comments in reply. Joel Grant, now playing for non-League side Nantwich Town, said: “My bro. Head up, if anyone can return better it’s you.”

Mickel Miller, who is nearing a return to fitness after suffering a torn thigh muscle in Argyle’s final training session before the start of this season, posted: “Back stronger and even better.”

There were also messages from current team-mates such as goalkeeper Mike Cooper, strikers Niall Ennis and Ryan Hardie, as well as former Argyle players Tyreeq Bakinson, Ryan Broom, Panutche Camara, Romoney Crichlow, Jordon Garrick, Frank Nouble, Alex Palmer, Steven Sessegnon and Dom Telford.

Sheffield Wednesday defender Ben Heneghan and Cheltenham Town striker Alfie May, both League One rivals of Argyle’s also sent their best wishes to the unfortunate Grant.
