Continuing on the road to destruction

-

ALONG with many other people, I am very deeply concerned that so little has been done by our Government to reduce our CO2 emissions. Eminent scientists, and indeed our Government’s own Parliamentary Committee on Climate Change, have told us very clearly that if we do not act immediately we risk the extinction of human life as we know it.

I certainly share the concern about medical resources, and ambulances too, being disrupted by Just Stop Oil, and I wish there were other ways to draw everyone’s notice to the emergency we are in.

We have been told many times since 1980 that life on our planet is being destroyed. Petitions have been signed, marches organised, MPs lobbied, and more, yet still we continue on the road to destruction.

I share Greg Martin’s concern about the delivery of his son’s insulin, concern which sits alongside the tragedies facing our young people in particular as sea levels rise, floods cover lands, heatwaves destroy crops, hurricanes increase and more.

We need to heed the warning of scientists and turn away from fossil fuels towards renewables to support our young people at a time when statistics show an increasing number of them are fearful of having children of their own.
