Serious crash causes chaos

THE A38 was gridlocked for much of the day yesterday, after a woman suffered serious injuries in a crash in Devon.

The collision involved two vehicles on the northbound carriageway of the main Devon thoroughfare, and brought traffic to a standstill near Chudleigh.

The South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust sent two double-crewed land ambulances, a doctor, a critical care car, an operations officer and hazardous area response team resources to the scene of the crash. One casualty was taken to Derriford Hospital, and the road was closed until early afternoon.
