Man, 23, admits violent assault

A 23-YEAR-OLD has admitted violently assaulting a homeless man in Totnes. Levi Hackett inflicted serious injuries on his victim in an incident on July 3.

The defendant appeared via video link at Exeter Crown Court and pleaded guilty to the offence of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. He spoke only to confirm his name and details , and to enter the plea.

The defendant, of Wellpark Walk, in the Newton Heath area of Manchester, was granted conditional bail until the next hearing. He will be sentenced on January 13.
