Business park plan for land

-

A LARGE plot of land near Exeter Airport could be transformed into a sustainable business park, after being given the green light for redevelopment by East Devon District Council.

The local authority has given its seal of approval to a local development order (LDO) for the site at Long Lane, opposite the Future Skills Centre.

The council’s planning committee said the LDO would enable a business park to be built at Power Park – part of the Exeter and East Devon Enterprise Zone – that would encourage investment and growth, and could create up to 500 new jobs in the county. It also said the LDO simplified the planning process so developers could bring forward premises for a range of businesses more easily at the site.

“This new LDO shows we are committed to unlocking development in the Enterprise Zone to bring high-value jobs to local people,” said Cllr Paul Arnott, East Devon District Council’s leader and chair of Exeter and East Devon Enterprise Zone.

“The LDO will provide a framework for sustainable development through a mixeduse scheme with good placemaking whilst mitigating the impact on the local environment and wildlife.”

The LDO sets out the type and quantity of development which can take place on the site. Developers would need to demonstrate that their proposals comply with the LDO before starting the development, the local authority added.
