March highlights violence against women

-

MORE than a hundred people took part in a poignant night walk and vigil in Penzance to mark International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and as part of more than a fortnight of campaign events.

The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence is an annual global campaign calling for an end to all violence against women and girls. To launch the 2022 campaign, people took part in this year’s Take Back The Night March on Friday, which started on Penzance promenade and ended with a candlelit vigil at Chapel Street Methodist Church. St Michael’s Mount was illuminated in the Suffragette colours of purple and green in support.
