Questions over delay on MND research cash
SCIENTISTS have not received a penny of the £50 million funding pot for motor neurone disease (MND) research promised by the Government, a charity claims. Concern over the cash increased after the death on Saturday of former Scotland rugby player Doddie Weir after a six-year battle with MND. The MND Association said researchers had had no money. Health Secretary Steve Barclay said money “is there” but was delayed by the “quality of the research bids”.
