Man accused over deaths of 27 migrants
A MAN has been arrested in Cheltenham in connection with the deaths of at least 27 people who drowned trying to cross the English Channel last year, the National Crime Agency (NCA) said. Harem Ahmed Abwbaker, 32, was detained on Tuesday accused of being part of an organised crime gang behind the crossing a year ago. He will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court today for extradition to France on charges of manslaughter and facilitating illegal immigration.
