Quality entry at Churston Fatstock Show

AN excellent entry of 24 cattle and 16 pens of sheep came forward at Churston Fatstock Show earlier this month.

Held at Churston New Buildings near Brixham, the event on Monday, November 14 was the second of five primestock shows in the South Devon district.

The champion bullock prize was awarded to Chris Eddy from St Erth for his 18-monthold Limousin steer. Reserve went to David Fletcher from Dittisham with his 19-monthold Limousin cross heifer.

The local championsh­ip was won by Mr D Tooze of Paignton with his 22-monthold Charolais cross steer, with the reserve awarded to Mr M Tooze of Brixham with his 22-month-old Hereford cross steer. Mr J Quant of North Whilboroug­h claimed the unhaltered championsh­ip with his Limousin cross heifer, and Mr D Tooze was reserve.

Judging the sheep classes was Nick Harris Jr who found his champion in the form of a pair of Texel lambs exhibited by Messrs J A Darke Ltd of Kingsbridg­e. Reserve went to Gwen Renfree of Quethiock with her Beltex cross lambs.

Local sheep champion went to Mr D Palk of Paignton.
