Pilgrims linked with Reds ace Danns
LIVERPOOL’S 18-year-old striker Jayden Danns is a loan target for Plymouth Argyle boss Wayne Rooney, according to a report from TEAMtalk.
The Pilgrims have already made four summer signings and Rooney confirmed after the 5-1 preseason win away to Cheltenham Town on Saturday that ‘things are ongoing’ over more potential new recruits. Rooney has already added to Argyle’s attacking positions with the arrivals of Muhamed Tijani and Ibrahim Cissoko on season-long loans from Slavia Prague in the Czech Republic and French club Toulouse respectively.
Now the Argyle head coach has been linked with Danns by TEAMtalk, who reported: Wayne Rooney is ready to raid old rivals Liverpool to try and take teenage sensation Jayden Danns on loan. Rooney is keen to bolster his side’s attacking options ahead of the new season and he is a big admirer of Liverpool hot-shot Danns.”
They added: “Liverpool may feel Danns might benefit from a first loan move away from Anfield to continue his development with regular first team football and Rooney and Plymouth are at the front of the queue if they decide to loan him out.”
Danns broke into the Liverpool first team under Jurgen Klopp last season after a series of injuries to senior players. He made five substitute appearances, including in the Carabao Cup final 1-0 win after extra-time against Chelsea at Wembley in February.
The England under-18 international scored two goals in the Reds’ next game, a 3-0 FA Cup win against Southampton at Anfield.
Argyle have already made three loan signings - Tijani, Cissoko and Leeds United midfielder Darko Gyabi - and are allowed to have up to five of them in a matchday squad.
Rooney told Herald Sport after the game against Cheltenham: “We have identified players we still want to bring in. There is things which are ongoing. Until there’s anything concrete then I don’t think it’s fair on the players or the clubs we are speaking to to put that out there, but there will be more players coming in.”
