BMW’S idrive remains the pinnacle of in-car infotainment systems. It’s easy to operate, nice to look at, packed with features and displayed on a clear 10.3in screen. However, you have to pay £235 extra for Apple Carplay – something we’d recommend doing. Gesture control (which allows you to operate certain functions by waving your ngers in the air) costs £160, but it’s more of a party trick than something genuinely useful.
