Hyundai and Kia
will fit solar charging panels to selected models from next year.
While solar tech has featured on cars before, the sister brands will be the first to offer it on petrol and diesel models as well as hybrids and fully electric cars.
First up, though, will be the version for hybrids. This is said to be capable of charging 30-60% of the battery during a day. That energy can then be used to reduce engine use and thus fuel consumption.
