Which models have Jaguar Land Rover’s Clearsight rearview mirror?
I’m researching my next new car and have the Jaguar F-pace and Range Rover Velar on my shortlist. Both have recently been updated for 2021, and I expected them both to be available with the Clearsight digital rear-view mirror. However, this does not seem to be the case. Do you know if this is something that will be available later, or is it technically not possible in these two models?
WHAT CAR? SAYS…
Jaguar Land Rover has confirmed that the 2021 Velar can be ordered with the Clearsight rearview mirror, but compatibility issues prevent it from appearing on the F-pace and no date can be provided for when it will.
Other Jaguar Land Rover models available with the feature include the Jaguar I-pace and XE, Land Rover Defender and Discovery Sport and the Range Rover Evoque.
The system uses a highdefinition camera mounted on the roof. It sends a video feed to a ceiling-mounted screen that replaces the conventional rear-view mirror, providing a 50-degree view behind.
Whereas the view from a conventional mirror can be obscured by large items placed in the boot, or by rain on the rear screen, the view provided by the Clearsight mirror is unimpeded in those circumstances.
Another optional system, Clearsight Ground View, provides a view of the terrain immediately below the front of the car. This is particularly handy when driving off road.
