If you’re after a quick yet comfortable SUV, the I-pace is a ne choice. Go gently on its accelerator pedal and more than 250 miles of range is possible, plus it’s spacious and good to drive. However, the ix3’s overall grades are even more impressive and push the I-pace into second place here.

No, the ix3 can’t go quite as far on a full charge, but its ability to top up at a faster rate means long journeys should pose no fear. It’s more fun to drive, too. But where it really wins us over is with its practical, wellbuilt interior, proper buttons and brilliant infotainment system.

Factor in a lower price, lower running costs and a longer kit list and the ix3’s case looks even stronger.
