Everyone’s a World Cup winner…

- Jonathan Evans, editor

It’s always an exciting time in the office when the new season’s televisions start to come in for testing. But in a World Cup year it feels, somehow, more exciting still. The scope is there to buy a superb new set to watch the world’s favourite tournament. And this year, I’m happy to report, all that pretest excitement has been justified. As you will see from our large-screen

TV test (p36) three of the biggest hitters – LG, Samsung and Sony – have come up trumps with their 2018 4K HDR sets. Any one of these would be a World Cup winner in our eyes. If even a 65-inch television won’t quite do it for you as far as screen acreage goes, fear not. We also bring you two head to heads of 4K HDR projectors (p50) that will display a summer of sport in ultra-high resolution at 100 inches, if you so desire. And if they’re too big, we’ve got our pick of smaller TVS (p44) too. You’ll want great sound to go with your new telly, of course. Our system builders (p58) will set you straight.
