INSIDER TOP FIVE LAUNCHES
Five products to look out for this month
2 Moon Voice 22
£2650
Moon by Simaudio has momentarily put its electronics hat to one side and released its first-ever pair of speakers. Designed with the Moon Neo Ace streaming amplifier in mind, the Voice 22 allow the brand to be able to offer its customers a complete system (though of course, the standmounters can partner any electronics). Interestingly, they appear to hover above any surface on which they are placed, with their ‘Hover Stand’ not only giving them a cool ‘floating’ appearance but also protecting them from vibrations. https://whf.cm/moon_voice22
4 Hifi Rose RA180
£5499
The RA180 is the Korean brand’s first (and for now only) dedicated amplifier product, following the launch of its network streamers and systems, accompanying CD ripper and all-in-one wireless speakers. And, in line with our fledgling experience of Hifi Rose kit, it too deserves to be seen as much as heard. It is jam-packed with rotary dials and Vu-meters, flick switches and toggles – and seems just as busy on the rear connectivity panel too. Fingers crossed its Class AD amp design doesn’t disappoint... whf.cm/hifirose_ra180
1 Sony VPL-XW5000ES
£5999
Meet Sony’s most affordable ‘true’ 4K laser projector. The 5000ES uses all-new 0.61in SXRD imaging chips – the smallest native 4K ‘panels’ in the home entertainment world to date – that feature higher light reflectance and a flatter reflective surface than their predecessors, boosting brightness, contrast and colour accuracy. A new X1 Ultimate video processor facilitates improved picture enhancement technologies, too. whf.cm/sony4k
3 Rega Elicit MK5
£2000
At last, a Rega amplifier with a DAC circuit! Rega wanted to give the Elicit MK5 greater flexibility and so has provided one optical and coaxial input apiece to join four line-levels, an MM phono, a record socket and a pre-amp output. A first for the long-serving Elicit model, there is also a 6.3mm headphone socket. The Class A/B design fires out 105 watts per channel, and shares a number of features found on the five-star, higher-ranging Aethos. whf.cm/regaelicitmk5
5 Sony WH-1000XM5
£380
Our favourite wireless noise-cancelling over-ear headphones have just got better. Well, that’s the promise anyway. The WH-1000XM5, which succeed the multiaward-winning XM4, supposedly boast “Sony’s most remarkable noise cancelling yet”, courtesy of two processors controlling eight microphones and an Auto NC Optimizer that tweaks ANC depending on the environment. Expect improved sound quality, a 30-hour battery life (with fast charging) and much more besides. whf.cm/sony_wh1000xm5
