E-TRENDS FLY
Folding bikes are not just the preserve of London media types, they can be blooming handy for motorhomers, too, particularly if you haven’t yet quite saved up enough pennies for that monster A-class with a humungous garage. And now there’s an electric version, too.
Although almost £700 sounds like a lot of cash, for a folding e-bike, it’s actually pretty keen – and a lot less outlay than part-exchanging your ’van for the aforementioned A-class! You get a 250W motor with a range of 19 miles and the battery can be recharged in four hours.
The handlebar-mounted display gives your speed and an indication of battery life, and pedal power can be boosted easily, while there are no complicated gears to get wrong while you’re attempting the next hill. The blurb says folding and unfolding takes a matter of seconds, but obviously it may take a bit of practice to get your times to pro level.
Other features include front and rear mudguards, a 16in steel frame, 20in wheels with aluminium rims, a rear pannier and a battery warranty of two years or 700 charges (the battery must be fully charged at least once a month).
The bike is 86cm by 33cm by 63cm when folded and weighs 23.5kg. e-trends.co.uk
