Book now, says Goboony
With the news of the latest plan to ease lockdown restrictions, motorhome and campervan hire firm, Goboony, is advising anyone looking to rent a motorhome this summer to book now.
Goboony connects motorhome owners with holidaymakers across Europe, a little like Airbnb, and has reported a 30% surge in UK summer bookings this year. In 2020, it actually saw a 300% year-on-year increase in bookings. Factor in the rolling bookings from Covid-postponed trips, and increased interest for holidaying at home in self-contained accommodation, and the demand is likely to be strong for summer 2021.
There’s a seasonality to the booking types, too, with more short breaks and weekends planned for the spring months and longer trips trending for the summer months.
Mark de Vos, CEO and founder of Goboony, says, “My recommendation to anyone considering booking a staycation this summer is to book now to avoid any disappointment, as availability is going to only get tighter as demand could outstrip supply. As such, we’re seeing an opportunity for more motorhome owners to reap the benefits of hiring their vehicles through our platform.”
Goboony’s UK Country Manager, Jake Stone added, “Our bookings this month are already outperforming the record-breaking January we had by 112% and we have seen an increase of 143% in turnover, too. Not only are people booking motorhomes to rekindle their love for the UK but, as we saw last summer, many booked the vehicles as a way to reconnect and stay with family and friends at a safe distance.”
There are 3,500 vehicles on the Goboony platform across Europe.
