Rapido C56

New compact model that’s slim and under 6m long

-

Here’s an unusual newcomer that combines a slimmer body with sub-six-metre overall length to show that a fixed bed motorhome doesn’t have to be big. It also marks the return of a French bed model to the Rapido brochure for 2021.

The smallest motorhome in the line-up, the C56 still looks and feels like a Rapido. That means Novatech construction, framed windows, central locking that includes the habitation door, skirts made of aluminium and one of the largest overcab sunroofs on the market.

Inside, there’s a choice of furniture styles and a host of extra equipment for RHD models. Included as standard are heated waste tank, external shower, carpets, oven/grill and a second leisure battery. The Truma Combi is upgraded to the 6kW version, running from diesel and 230V.

You’ll be surprised by how spacious the C56 feels. Rapido was the originator of fixed tables that fold in half and that’s especially welcome in this compact model.

The kitchen is small but incorporates a very contemporary Can hob, as well as a combined oven/grill. The kitchen drawers have electric central locking, while the fridge is a 90-litre compressor type. Opposite, there’s a slide-out pantry unit, which is a great feature.

One of the reasons French beds fell out of favour is that they are often oddly shaped, with a cut-off corner at the foot. Here, though, Rapido has come up with a clever extension to give you a proper rectangular-shaped mattress measuring 1.99m by 1.30m.
