WHO IS HOBBY?
Founded in 1967, Hobby is based in Fockbek in northern Germany. It is Europe’s largest caravan manufacturer and claims to have over 25% of that market. It entered the motorhome sector in 1984 with the low-profile 600 model, a design classic often seen in a striking metallic gold finish. By 1991 it had produced 5,000 motorhomes (as well as 200,000 caravans) and in 2002 it celebrated its 35th anniversary with the construction of a new motorhome factory. By 2009 it had built 20,000 motorhomes and five years later it joined the already booming campervan market with the Vantana range.
Today, Hobby has manufactured over 600,000 caravans and it offers a range of low-profile and overcab coachbuilts under the Optima name as well as its van conversions. Both Fiat and Citroën chassis are adopted.
