If you’re looking for your first campervan on a tight budget, it’s hard to go wrong with a well-looked-after Auto-Sleeper, like this Symbol. This was a hugely popular model – the Editor’s mum had one – and it was built at a time when an Auto-Sleeper was seen as having better build quality than almost any rival.
With a choice of single beds or a double, a kitchen with an oven and grill, and even a proper shower/toilet cubicle, the Symphony packed a lot into the mediumwheelbase Boxer van. Increasing the appeal of this example is its low mileage (60k with some service history) and the fact that it’s the smooth 2-litre petrol engine under the bonnet. Incredibly, this example has had just one owner from new!
