If you haven’t got a fleece jacket by now, the only explanation is that you have been locked in a cave for a very long time. Really, there’s no excuse for not owning one – not only are they the most practical and versatile type of top anyone can own, but they are readily available from any old shop these days. But, as with everything, you get what you pay for, so it’s worth getting a good one.
The Tundra, from Montane, is made from Thermo 300 highpile fleece, which means it’s really warm. It’s also got a close-fitting collar and a chin guard over the zip, as well as an adjustable drawcord hem, so you can really batten down the hatches. The Tundra comes in sizes 8 to 16 and Montane describes the fit as ‘close-fitting for fast-paced activities’ but it’s worth noting that it seems to have been designed for tall, slim people, so you may need to go up a size, and may also find that it comes down to your knees if you’re on the petite side.
