GOLDSCHMITT LAUNCHES ROUTECOMFORT FOR DUCATO REAR AXLE
German chassis and suspension specialist, Goldschmitt, has expanded its RouteComfort series with a spring combination for the rear axle of the Fiat Ducato.
Air assistance products are a common upgrade for motorhomers who want help with a sagging rear end, or to adjust ride height for ferries, etc. However, this can have the opposite effect for lighter campervans, producing a harder ride. And this is where Goldschmitt’s new addition to the RouteComfort range comes in.
The leaf spring suspension, made of GRP together with an 8in air suspension, combines a soft and comfortable spring rate with customised raising and lowering function. This enables a constant ride height to be maintained whilst also lowering when stationary or at an increased slope angle.
Unlike many other retrofits, the new RouteComfort for the Ducato rear axle doesn’t add any extra weight for many Ducato variants, due to the lower weight of the GRP material in the replacement leaf spring suspension.
The system also includes a 12V compressor and a control unit to set the ride height as needed. The installation of a RouteComfort system may allow for an upgrade to the maximum gross vehicle weight to increase payload limits – although this should be checked before purchase as this ability differs between motorhomes.
The new RouteComfort for the rear axle of the leaf-sprung Fiat Ducato, Citroën Jumper/Relay and Peugeot Boxer (2006 and later) will be available from spring 2023. There are also products for the front axles within the RouteComfort series.
