It’s a year since Ethan Hardy’s brother, Cal, was murdered by evil Scott Ellisson, and he spends it by getting closer to deceased
Scott’s former girlfriend LeighAnne! Will Ethan reveal his twisted connection to vulnerable new mum Leigh-Anne?
Connie Beauchamp returns to her rightful position as ED clinical lead this week, causing junior doctors to shake in her wake, while more experienced medics wonder what her plans are for the department!
Connie has been on a lengthy leave of absence due to a near-fatal cancer diagnosis. Thankfully, she appears to have made a full recovery and is ready to rule the ED with her trademark steely focus. Her reappearance is greeted with shock, however, as she’s back earlier than expected due to Ethan Hardy quitting the role last week. She strides back into the hospital, immediately barking orders!
‘Connie always makes an entrance! She doesn’t come in quietly by the back door,’ laughs Amanda Mealing, who plays strong-minded Connie.
Causing conflict
‘Obviously she’s not been involved in the ED for a few months, so on her return she wants to be able to prove herself to everyone, but more importantly she wants to prove herself to herself.
This instantly brings her into conflict with everyone else!’
Connie’s scathing at how inefficiently the ED’s been run by inexperienced Ethan. She reveals to her old pal, senior nurse Charlie Fairhead, that she wants to open a trauma theatre in the ED and expects his backing. But Charlie, one of the few people who can criticise Connie to her face, questions her motives…
‘Charlie gets Connie. He knows how far he can go with her – and he can go further than anyone else,’ reveals Amanda. ‘Connie comes in with great force and wants to reclaim her place immediately. Some of her decisions may be a little enthusiastic and step on a few toes, but that’s just Connie, isn’t it?’
