Last ever Car share

Will Car Share’s John and Kayleigh drive off into the sunset together?

CAR SHARE Holiday Monday, 10pm

BBC1 Comedy

At the end of the last series of Car Share, Kayleigh (Sian Gibson) finally told John (Peter Kay) she loved him.

The pair had gone from colleagues sharing a journey to and from work, to friends having a laugh and singing along to the radio, to something more – or so it seemed to Kayleigh.

But when she tried to find out if John shared her feelings, he struggled to respond. Brokenhearted Kayleigh then stepped out of his car and his life forever.

Popular demand

It wasn’t the ending fans wanted and 100,000 signed petitions demanding more episodes.

‘We were completely overwhelmed by the response,’ says Peter. ‘And even though we had no plans to write a third series, we knew we couldn’t end the story there.’

So this week there will be one final episode, which is set the morning after Kayleigh walked off. Will John tell Kayleigh he loves her, too? Or is it the end of the road for the couple?

Under wraps

Peter and Sian are keeping tight-lipped about the story…

‘I’m really bad about keeping secrets,’ says Sian. ‘But I’ve been very careful with this one. I really want it to be a surprise for the people watching.’

One thing Sian will reveal, though, is that you won’t see her in the driving seat.

‘I am a terrible driver. When I did have to drive on Car Share, I nearly killed us,’ she says. ‘It was an automatic car and I forgot which pedals were which and the cameraman nearly flew out the back window. I wasn’t allowed to drive after that!’
