Anthony takes on another lead role as Shakespeare’s tragic play King Lear is brought to life in a BBC2 adaptation. Anthony plays the ruler who presides over a totalitarian military dictatorship in the film, which is set in the present day. Lear descends into madness after he passes control to only two of his three daughters, played by Emma Thompson, Emily Watson and Florence Pugh. The all-star cast also includes Jim Broadbent, Christopher Eccleston and Jim Carter.
