Jac’s back!

But what’s the reason for the strong-minded surgeon’s return?

-

Brace yourselves… formidable Holby surgeon Jac Naylor is back this week! And no one is more surprised than Director of Nursing Adrian ‘Fletch’ Fletcher.

‘Jac’s been away a lot longer than expected, so it’s definitely a surprise to him that she’s back,’ says Rosie Marcel, who plays her. ‘Fletch suffers her and she knows he suffers her, that’s why they’ve grown close. It’s obvious he’s missed her and it’s sweet.’

Suffering

Jac took extended leave from Holby as she battled with severe pain following the lifesaving surgery she underwent after being shot last year. And the real reason she’s back is soon revealed…

‘Jac’s suffering from troublesome scar tissue following the initial surgery on her spine and it’s got to the point where she can’t cope, so she wants Professor Gaskell to operate,’ says Rosie. ‘Jac’s certain he can get her back to work pain-free.’

Jac thinks she’s the perfect candidate to be a patient in Gaskell’s pioneering stem-cell trial. Fletch (Alex Walkinshaw) advises against it – but this woman’s not for turning…

‘For Jac, it’s either end up paralysed from her injuries or try something experimental,’ says Rosie.

Gaskell (Paul McGann) agrees to perform Jac’s surgery, and later, her vulnerable side emerges as she confides in Fletch about her future…

‘Jac’s worried she won’t have one,’ says Rosie. ‘Her life is her child and her work and if she can’t run around after her daughter, Emma, or perform complicated surgeries, then she really doesn’t have much else.’
