Shannon is only 20, but she’s about to spend thousands flying to Turkey to have secret cosmetic surgery. But it isn’t a facelift or breast enhancement that Shannon wants – it’s labiaplasty, which will sculpt her vagina into a ‘perfect’ shape.

Although she’s too scared to tell her mum, Shannon is far from alone in wanting a ‘designer vagina’ – labiaplasty is the fastest-growing cosmetic procedure in the world.

Neat and pretty

‘I remember seeing a picture when I started going through puberty and thinking, “That looks better than mine,”’ says Shannon. ‘The surgery will neaten up my downstairs – I think it will look prettier.’

Shannon features in this three-part series, which sees presenter Cherry Healey investigating eye-watering cosmetic procedures that 26,000 British women undergo each year.

Cherry also meets Keisha, 29, who’s off to Turkey for a Brazilian butt lift. The op will set Keisha back £5,000 – half what it would have cost in the UK.

Chasing her perfect body puts Keisha at risk of clots, infection and ruptured internal organs. But she is determined to go ahead with her plans, even though she won’t be able to sit down for at least six weeks afterwards. So is it worth it?

‘I felt like I’d been run over by a tractor, pushed off a cliff then hit with a cricket bat,’ admits Keisha. ‘But I feel more womanly, and I’ve been getting loads more male attention. It’s about doing whatever makes you happy.’
