The staff at Barnsley A&E have their hands full when we return for a new series. Severe weather means more stress than usual, but fortunately, famously good-natured consultant Dr Julian is there to raise everyone’s spirits. Patients in need of care are former miner Andrew, who suffers from a lung condition, and pensioner Brian, who has broken his ankle.

Meanwhile in paediatrics, Dr Jane treats Teddy, four, after he’s involved in a sledging accident, and admits her perspective of being a casualty doctor has changed since she gave birth to twins. Elsewhere, Barnsley A&E’s longest-serving volunteer, Jane, is on hand to serve a nice cup of tea to anyone gasping for a brew.
