Jack Dee recalls his own ‘bad move’ as his sitcom about having a dream home continues…
The grass still isn’t any greener for husband-andwife country dwellers Steve and Nicky, as sitcom Bad Move returns for its second series.
As the six-part comedy – written by and starring Jack Dee – begins, Steve and Nicky (Derek’s Kerry Godliman) face more problems in their quest to create their dream home.
‘Steve and Nicky are trying to get a builder in to fix a roof that was smashed up at the end of the last series,’ reveals Jack, who plays Steve. ‘They can’t find a decent builder anywhere and, when they do, he’s almost too decent. He’s even called Honest John!’
Steve and Nicky also continue to deal with their nuisance neighbours, Matt (Miles Jupp) and Meena (Manjinder Virk), as well as local rock star Grizzo, played by comic Seann Walsh, who’s among the line-up for this year’s Strictly Come Dancing.
Jack admits he can relate to the couple’s plight as he once made a bad move of his own…
‘My wife and I attempted to move to the country once,’ he reveals. ‘We bought a house and did it up, but by the time we’d done that we realised we didn’t actually want to live there. We couldn’t quite get to grips with the silence and the darkness outside. I prefer knowing there’s a bit of action going on. Even if it’s just police sirens, I find that weirdly comforting.’
