Cooking up a storm!

Families are back to competing in a kitchen contest…

-

With last year’s Celebrity Masterchef winner Angellica Bell and Michelin-starred chef Tommy Banks taking over from Zoë Ball and Nadiya Hussain as presenters and judges, Family Cooking Showdown is back for a second series.

‘It’s a bit different to last year, though,’ says TV presenter Angellica. ‘It’ll be shown every weekday over three weeks, instead of once a week, so the audience can really buy into the families. The challenges have changed, too.’

Once again four families take on tasks in the kitchen. In the first episode there’s the flamboyant Abimbola-Younges, farming family the Whites, the vegan Stones, and the Penmans (a gran, granddaughter and boyfriend team).

‘The show brought together people from different backgrounds and it was such a nice vibe,’ says Angellica. ‘Behind the scenes Mr White was twerking!’

Confidence

But there are still some kitchen disasters to look forward to. ‘Something happens in episode one that made my heart sink,’ recalls Angellica. ‘From doing Celebrity

MasterChef I totally understand how nerve-racking it is and if it had happened to me I would have cried.’

For Angellica, presenting the show is a sign of how much life has changed since her Celebrity MasterChef win. ‘I never thought I’d host a cooking show,’ she admits. ‘But Celebrity MasterChef made me realise I love cooking.’
