Sinead learns the worst news but will she tell Daniel?
There’s shocking news for newly married Sinead who is told she has cervical cancer and should consider a termination.
With the doctors having found a lump on her cervix during her 12-week scan, pregnant Sinead has been on tenterhooks ever since. Not having told a soul, the expectant mum has tried to hide her agony from hubby Daniel and her loved ones.
Devastated
This week lonely Sinead, who should be on cloud nine having just got hitched, heads to the hospital where she receives the devastating results of her biopsy.
After returning to Weatherfield, Sinead is in bits when Ken finds her. Unable to contain her heartbreak any longer, she finally confides in her father-in-law. Ken’s devastated for her – but aghast when Sinead goes on to insist that he keeps her diagnosis from elated Daniel, who has just accepted a much-wanted place on a master’s degree course.
‘Daniel is going to be devastated and he probably won’t pursue his plans,’ says Katie McGlynn, who plays Sinead. ‘He will probably blame Ken too – even though his dad hasn’t done anything – because he’s the one who caused Sinead to abort their baby last year. She knows it’s going to be catastrophic for Daniel so she just can’t say anything.’
Explaining to Ken that she doesn’t want Daniel to feel he has to choose between her and the baby, Sinead pleads with him not to tell his son…
