Guilt-ridden Cain confesses to Moira…
When Cain walloped Joe for jilting Debbie, he wasn’t planning to kill him. But when Joe fell, hitting his head on a rock on the ground, Graham proclaimed he was dead, and a horrified Cain went home believing that he’d murdered his daughter’s fiancé on their wedding day!
Of course, it was actually Graham who finished off Joe, on Kim Tate’s orders, but he’s not about to tell Cain that. It’s rather convenient that Cain thinks he’s responsible and hasn’t a clue what happened to Joe’s body after it was put in the boot of Graham’s car.
Guilt and lies
‘Graham’s taken control of the situation, which is territory Cain’s not used to,’ says Jeff Hordley, who plays the Dingle. ‘He likes to be in control.’
But the guilt, lies and uncertainty are really getting to Cain. Debbie reckons that Joe has done a runner and has no idea he’s dead, let alone that her dad thinks he killed him!
This week, Cain tells Moira, who’s determined to be there for her husband as he was for her when she admitted she’d killed Emma Barton.
Secret
Confronting Graham, Moira’s shaken to hear how Joe had actually returned to be with ‘jilted’ Debbie that fateful day.
It would crush Cain to know he’d ruined his daughter’s chance of happiness.
Moira decides Cain must never know.
Holding strong, Moira asks Graham to vow never to tell Debbie what happened to Joe the day he vanished.
‘This could really break up the father-daughter relationship that’s been strong for years,’ says Jeff. ‘He and Debbie have always been there for each other. It would put a rift between them.’
Will Graham agree to keep mum?
