Olympic legends Torvill and Dean are ready to welcome a new batch of celebrities onto the rink as Dancing on Ice returns, once again with Phil and Holly hosting. Contestants include Brian McFadden, Jane Danson and Gemma Collins. Who will suffer judge Jason

QAmong the stars taking to the ice are Corrie’s
Jane Danson, ex-Strictly pro James Jordan and former Westlife singer Brian McFadden. What do you think of this year’s line-up?
Chris It’s one of our best line-ups so far. There are some strong skaters, great characters and there will be surprises. There’s already a rivalry between James and Brian. They’re friends but Brian’s like: ‘I don’t mind where I come, so long as I finish ahead of James!’
Jayne I was impressed with the standard in training. On the first show, we’ll be see who’s been working on the basics, who needs to work harder and who has the potential to go all the way.
QOne of the show’s professional skaters, Dan Whiston, is creative director this series.
Will you be working closely with him?
Chris Dan will be overseeing the choreography. He has a great idea of what works.
Jayne I think we’ll also have a bit more involvement than last year in the choreography and setting the challenges.
Chris It was hard not being able to do that last year. I think we may perform a bit more, too! We’ve got to while we can still can, right?
QIs it more challenging, the older you get? Jayne It’s really just that, if you get an injury, it takes longer to get over it. But we try and stay in shape.
QThe show can be dangerous – are the celebs ready for what’s coming?
Jayne They’ve been taught how to fall… and get back up!
Chris It’s about the jeopardy; these celebs are seconds away from catastrophe, so you never know what will happen. People love that!
QHow does it feel to know you’ve inspired people to take up ice-skating?
Chris I do feel responsible for all the seasonal rinks that pop up in Winter…
Jayne I usually take my kids to one. I get on the ice but I pull my hat down so I don’t draw attention and I try not to push too hard even though I’m desperate to go fast! But I get recognised eventually!
