Cain confesses
EMMERDALE
His life starts to fall apart after he reveals to Debbie that he killed Joe…
Debbie Dingle still doesn’t know what happened to her ‘runaway’ fiancé, Joe Tate, on the day of the couple’s doomed wedding last year.
But, this week, she is asked to identify a dead body and fears it could be Joe. It turns out not to be him, but when Cain sees the turmoil his daughter is in, the weight of his guilty secret proves too much.
So he drops the shock bombshell – and tells her he accidentally killed Joe, when the businessman fell and hit his head during a fight outside Home Farm…
Sea of secrets
‘Cain can’t hold it in any longer,’ reveals Jeff Hordley, who plays the distraught dad. ‘Debbie feels absolutely betrayed – Cain has lied to her for months.’
However, the shocks don’t end there, as Debbie discovers Joe’s trusted friend Graham Foster helped cover up the crime, and Cain’s wife, Moira, also knows the truth.
But none of them knows Joe was still alive when Graham drove off with his ‘lifeless’ body!
Moira tries to talk to Debbie, thinking she can help to heal the rift between father and daughter. But devastated Debbie runs off. Blaming Moira for making matters worse,
Cain explodes with rage and proceeds to smash up the kitchen at Butlers Farm!
When Moira tries to calm down Cain, she finds herself on the receiving end of his violent temper and he pushes her against a wall… Will Debbie and Moira both turn their backs on ‘killer’ Cain?
‘I really don’t know if they can come back from this,’ says Jeff. ‘This is definitely a new low, even for Cain.’
