Jay Blades shows us how to get handy in the home…

Broken cupboard doors and wonky shelves could be a thing of the past as presenter and furniture restorer Jay Blades is on a mission to help viewers tackle jobs around their homes. Jay, who also presents hit BBC1 show

The Repair Shop, will share handy tips and simple step-by-step guidance in his new 10-part series.

‘The main reason people avoid DIY is because what they’ve tried before has failed,’ says Jay. ‘What we’re doing is showing you how not to fail. We want to get everyone enthusiastic about fixing and making. I’d describe the show as a grown-up Blue Peter meets Saturday Kitchen.’

Invaluable

As well as making a new coffee table, and mixing his own furniture polish, Jay will also bring us invaluable expert advice from BBC presenters such as Ground Force handyman Tommy Walsh and Money for Nothing host Sarah Moore.

‘Due to lockdown, a lot of us have been spending time at home, noticing things that need doing. Now’s the time to master basic skills that will be useful beyond lockdown,’ says Jay.

‘DIY not only saves money, but it’s also great for mental health as it gives people a sense of achievement.’
