Married at home!

How Louise and Patrick will be getting wed during lockdown

-

After realising they wanted to spend their lives together, Louise and Patrick from London couldn’t wait to get married this summer.

The couple – who met in 2017 – began organising a festival-themed wedding with 200 guests in Gloucester. Then the UK went into lockdown. With their plans dashed, Louise and Patrick were devastated.

‘We had practically everything sorted,’ explains Patrick, 35. ‘When we realised it wasn’t going to happen, both of us had this deflated, let-down feeling; a mix of despair and frustration. It was a complete anticlimax.’

The couple decided to still get married, however, but in a different way... They decided to respond to a shout-out from C4 asking for couples who wanted to get married at home during lockdown.

Louise and Patrick were selected, and First Dates’

Fred Sirieix will be giving them a wedding they’ll never forget with a virtual celebration and all their original guests watching on!

‘Fred is our wedding planner and will be officiating the ceremony,’ reveals Louise, 33. ‘He’s organising all sorts of things that we have no idea about! All I know is the wedding is taking place in our back garden and there will be us two, my housemate, who’s my bridesmaid, and our dog!’

Louise and Patrick are delighted their wedding can still go ahead – albeit not as they’d planned.

‘Now, more than ever, we want people to feel joy and celebrate,’ says Louise. ‘Getting married marks the beginning of our next chapter.’
