In the mood for CRUISING!

The Nolan Sisters reunite for an emotional series sailing around the Med…

-

Over the decades, the Nolan Sisters have been through the mill, from divorce and money troubles to cancer and heartbreaking loss – and they’re not afraid to open up in this honest, warm-hearted new series.

The eight-parter sees sisters Coleen, Linda, Maureen and Anne reunite to cruise the Mediterranean, aiming to perform their 1979 hit single I’m in the Mood for Dancing on their final night on the ship.

It’s been 20 years since the sisters had a holiday together and even longer since the four have performed as an act, with Anne having been left out of their 2009 reunion tour, which caused a major family rift!

‘I don’t think we really spoke for about four years,’ admits Coleen. ‘It’s really important that we reconnect as sisters. It just makes you realise that whatever’s gone on, we love each other.’

Making waves

As the sisters join the luxury cruise in Genoa, Italy, they settle in and enjoy some late-night drinks. They soon open up about money troubles, how all four are now single and Linda’s diagnosis with terminal cancer.

But it’s when they start rehearsing for their epic performance that the emotion really hits them. Their sister Bernie, who originally sang lead on the song, died from breast cancer in 2013. And while Coleen has agreed to sing her part, it brings back difficult memories.

‘The only thing marring the cruise is the fact Bernie’s not here,’ says Coleen. ‘This was her song really, so I’m quite emotional because obviously when I sing it, I just miss her. I miss her every day.’
