NEW FACTUAL Winterwatch
Tuesday-friday, 8pm BBC2
Winter can be a difficult time of year but there’s joy to be found in nature! For the next two weeks, the Winterwatch team are back to tell us about some of the delights we can look for… and where to find them!
‘Winter’s an exciting and dynamic season when there’s a tremendous amount going on,’ says Chris Packham, who’ll be filming live each night from his home in the New Forest, alongside his stepdaughter
Megan Mccubbin.
‘There’s nothing
I love more than getting to know my local fox or badger family,’ says
Megan. ‘From the moment
I open my eyes in the morning,
I’m excited to
see what antics took place the night before.’
Treats
Gillian Burke, who’s at the Cornwall Beaver Project, says the team have been filming over the winter months and there are plenty of treats in store. ‘Viewers can expect to see amazing wildlife such as tawny owls and red kites,’ she says.
Iolo Williams will be at the Centre for Alternative
Technology in Wales, where he’ll be looking at the sky...
‘My favourite nature spectacle over the winter period is starling murmurations,’ says Iolo. ‘Watching tens of thousands of starlings twist and turn in the air is mesmerising.’
Chris reckons that one positive from the pandemic is that people have a new-found interest in our natural world.
‘Nature has never been more important,’ he says.
‘In such desperate times we’ve found solace and respite in the simple perfection of nature.’
